Upon licensure, the licensee stated the intention of keeping the majority of the living room inaccessible to children with baby gates. Also, two outlets, not TR type, or with other tamper-resistant covers, were accessible to children in this space. Accessible outlets in the main space had duct tape rather than being TR type or with other tamper-resistant cover. Plastic bags were observed accessible to children under the kitchen sink. The licensee has a cupboard latch for this cupboard but it was not lathched and the cupboard door was slightly ajar with the bags in view. Toddler age children were in care. The provider was not immediately in front of the cupboard, or in the kitchen to supervise. She was assisting the children in calming for nap, or with toileting and bathroom activities. This was latched during my inspection today. Upon my arrival, the licensee did not have the gate in place at the bottom of the stairs to the second level of her home. Toddlers were in care. The stairs are not visible to the provider from all areas of the licensed child care space. The gate was put back during my inspection today.

This licensor heard a deadbolt latch at the front door and fire exit in use upon my arrival. The licensee acknowledged the door was dead-bolted. She undid the deadbolt while this licensor was present, stating that she usually only deadbolts the door during naptime.

Dishwasher soap, sanitizing products and cleaners labeled "keep out of reach of children" were observed stored under the kitchen sink. The cupboard was observed open and the latch not in place. Toddlers were in care. The provider was not directly supervising this area as she was assisting children in calming for nap, or with toileting/bathroom activities around the corner (hallway). The cupboard was latched during my inspection.

Plugs use for outlets are a choking hazard for toddlers. Window blinds capable of forming an inner loop and accessible to toddlers were present on three windows in the living room and three windows in the child care room. Vinyl stickers on sliding glass door are not placed at child level, and not on both portions of the sliding glass door. Water at handwashing sink in bathroom was hotter than 120 degrees. Electrical outlets accessible to children are not TR type nor do they have blank plates.
